The route following San Joaquín-Soldados Angas is also an option, although it is not used as frequently as the one previously mentioned. Recommended time to visit All-year round. Months between July and January are the months with less rain. Climate The climate is cold yet humid. There are strong winds, intense sun, drizzling rain, fog, and snowfall. Low temperature: -2 C; high temperature during the day: 18 C. Average annual precipitation is 1200 mm. Services and infrastructure A first-class highway crosses through the northern part of Cajas National Park going from east to west. This highway allows access to the different tourist places. In addition, the protected area has an administrative center in the zone called Ilincocha. There is an interpretation and visitor center as well as a restaurant in the Toreadora Lagoon zone. There is a basic marking system on the road and on the principal hiking trails. There are two visitor control stations. One is located in Quinuas, 25 km. from Cuenca, and the other is 14 km. further in Huagrauma. Park guards are stationed in these locations to assist visitors. |
